We are very excited to share that National Health and Wellness Coach Recognition Week is happening now, from February 12-18, 2018. All four co-founders of the Nutritional Aesthetics® Alliance, and several of our Advisory Board members, are alumnae of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition® (IIN). We are very proud of our school’s initiatives, as well as those of the International Association of Health Coaches, to further the field of health coaching in Washington, DC; both raising standards of practice, and increasing legitimacy and accessibility.

National Health and Wellness Coach Recognition Week is an international movement to create greater awareness about the field of health coaching. Last, IIN and IIN Health Coaches had over 350 meetings with Congress, and achieved a huge milestone with the Senate, with the passing of the Health and Wellness Coach Resolution. Another recent health coaching “win” is that health coaching is also now included as an allowable pretax expense in legislation. More efforts are needed to pass the Health and Wellness Coach Resolution in the House of Representatives. Click HERE to sign the petition!

There are MANY ways health and wellness coaches both in the United States and abroad can get involved, and advocate for universal recognition, acceptance, and validation of health coaching, and its positive impact on global health.

Health coaches are a crucial part of the Nutritional Aesthetics® movement.

The more support the field of health coaching gets from Washington, the more accessible health coaching services will be. Health coaching plays a huge role in helping people with skin and health issues feel supported and encouraged to make changes to their diets, lifestyles, and mindsets that facilitate healthier skin for the long-term. It is the perfect complement to all the wonderful skincare products and aesthetic treatments, as well as self-care and home-care practices encouraged by aestheticians to their clients.

Health coaches, like aestheticians, do not diagnose or treat disease. Rather, they view each person as a whole person, and provide bioindividualized support, guidance, accountability, and practical ways to implement healthy diet, self-care, and lifestyle changes into their lives, as their bodies regain balance. We so often see aestheticians wonder why clients don’t follow home-care recommendations, and attribute their behavior to stubbornness. Health coaches know that this type of behavior goes deeper than that.  They have the unique ability to help clients move past self-sabotage, “stuckness,” and “stubbornness,” so they can experience the confidence that comes from achieving goals and being able to understand what their bodies need.

A large percentage of NAA readers and members are health coaches.

We are thrilled to see how many aestheticians are now getting trained and certified as health coaches by IIN, in addition to other high quality educational health coaching institutions. Combining aesthetics education and professional practice with the specialized skills in communication, accountability, and implementation that health coaching brings is the perfect recipe for faster, more sustainable skin and health results.
